Joseph was born in 1907 in Foleshill.1   Joseph's father was Joseph Matthew Wise and his mother was Sarah Ann Franks (Wise).  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Wise and Esther Collyer (Wise); his maternal grandparents were William Franks and Mary Fallons (Franks Midwinter).  He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Harry, Arthur, Hubert, Sarah, Margaret, Annie, Lydia, Maggie, Esther and Olive.  He was the youngest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 89 in 1996 in Coventry.2
